Oregano Essential Oil
Benefits and uses
The delicate, green leaves of the purple-flowering Origanum vulgare herb create a warm, herbaceous, spicy, camphor-like essential oil. Oregano essential oil is certainly one of nature’s powerhouses. Along with helping to purify the body and surrounding environment from unwanted microbial activity, oregano is a fantastic oil for healthy lung support, especially when one is dealing with a cold or flu. Oregano essential oil is also popular for supporting healthy digestion. It is packed with potent antibacterial, antifungal, antiviral, and analgesic properties, and is great for using to treat a myriad of infections, both inside and outside of the body. Research has shown it can even combat parasites.
Oregano essential oil has a very high phenol content and should never be used undiluted on the skin, as it will most likely be very irritating. We recommend using oregano essential oil around a 1% dilution or below (5-6 drops per ounce of carrier). Oregano essential oil should be avoided during pregnancy and should not be used with kids under the age of 2 years old. When used appropriately, oregano essential oil makes an excellent addition to any essential oil collection.
Emotionally and energetically, oregano essential oil is warming and calming. This essential oil is pleasantly stimulating to the nervous system and often provides a general feeling of well-being.
